The Best Homemade Shamrock Shake Recipe

Who needs a drive-thru when you can whip up the perfect Shamrock Shake right at home? This creamy, minty green treat is the ultimate way to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day (or really, any time you’re craving something sweet and festive). The best part? It’s super easy to make with just a few ingredients!

Shamrock Shake!

Made my own version at home with a fun decorated rim and cute accessories.

What You’ll Need:

  • 2 cups vanilla ice cream

  • 1 cup whole milk (or your favorite milk alternative)

  • 1/2 teaspoon peppermint extract (not mint—peppermint gives it that classic flavor!)

  • Green food coloring (a few drops to get that perfect shade!)

  • Whipped cream (for topping)

  • Maraschino cherry (optional, but highly recommended!)

  • Crushed mint cookies or sprinkles (for extra fun!)

How to Make It:

  1. In a blender, combine the vanilla ice cream, milk, peppermint extract, and a few drops of green food coloring.

  2. Blend until smooth and creamy. If you like a thicker shake, add more ice cream. If you want it thinner, add a splash more milk.

  3. Pour into a glass and top with whipped cream, a cherry, and some crushed mint cookies or festive sprinkles.

  4. Grab a straw, sip, and enjoy!

Make It Your Own:

  • Want to make it dairy-free? Swap the ice cream and milk for your favorite plant-based alternatives.

  • Love chocolate? Add a handful of chocolate chips or a drizzle of chocolate syrup before blending.

  • Adult version? A splash of Irish cream or Bailey’s Vanilla Mint to take this shake to the next level!

Whether you’re celebrating St. Paddy’s Day or just treating yourself, this homemade Shamrock Shake is the perfect way to add a little green to your day. Cheers! 🍀🥤
